Head of School
Stephanie Terrell is the Head of School for BASIS Chandler and has been with the administrative team since the school's 2011 inaugural year. Mrs. Terrell and team most recently helped BASIS Chandler reach the rank of "Second Most Challenging High School in America."
"The combination of all our parts allows for a positive influence in life's journey." Mrs. Terrell is a leader, educator, speaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She earned her B.S. in Biology from Arizona State University and, prior to joining BASIS, had over 10 years of experience teaching computer applications, all primary grades subjects, and middle school / high school math. Mrs. Terrell was the key administrator for the development of an international business and has been a highly requested public speaker and instructor in leadership development. Mrs. Terrell believes that the formula for leadership starts with being a servant, adds hard work, and finishes with perseverance. She has been married 32 years, and enjoys her five children and three grandchildren.
As Head of School for BASIS Chandler, Stephanie Terrell partners with students, parents, and other BASIS educators to help young people prepare for and embrace a life full of opportunity.
Head of Operations
It is with great excitement that Kimberley Hunt continues this year as the Head of Operations. Having worked at BASIS Chandler for the past four years as the HOSA, an AP History Teacher, Athletic Director, and finally as the DAP for two years, she has had the opportunity to work closely with the amazing teachers and staff as well as be involved in a number of events including the BASIS Chandler Family Picnic, Homecoming, Geography Bee, History Bee, Academic Decathlon, Fall and Spring drama performances, the Night of the Arts and our Graduation ceremonies.
During the summer of 2012, Ms. Hunt moved to the Phoenix area to be closer to family. Prior to moving and working for the BASIS network, she worked as an Assistant professor at California State University in Sacramento as well as an Archival assistant at the California State Museum. Ms. Hunt has also worked as the director of Admissions at a small arts college as well as the executive director of a branch of Kumon Math & Reading center in Oregon.
Ms. Hunt earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Oregon and a Master of Arts in History from California State University in Sacramento. Her background in history fuels her desire to spend a majority of time traveling as well as reading historical books and watching documentary films.
Director of Upper School Program
Mr. Kittredge is thrilled to continue as BASIS Chandler's Director of Student Affairs. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Drama from Dartmouth College, as well as a Master's Degree in Theatre Studies from the University of Arizona. He subsequently began working for BASIS in 2006. At BASIS Tucson, and later BASIS Tucson North, he taught virtually every class offered by the English department. Four years ago, he transitioned into the role of College Counselor and Senior Project Coordinator, in which he had the privilege of helping seniors prepare to navigate the waters of life after BASIS. That position left him continuously humbled by the sophistication, erudition, and sheer intellectual horsepower that BASIS students are able to achieve.
In addition to his role at BASIS Chandler, Mr. Kittredge is a newly minted BASIS parent. His nine year-old son is entering fourth grade at BASIS Chandler Primary - South Campus. His three year-old son still has a couple of years to go. In his free time, Mr. Kittredge loves to cook labor-intensive vegetarian and vegan cuisine of the world. He also reads every book put in front of him and is an avid pop culture fanatic.
He is eternally grateful for the warm welcome he has received from all of the parents, students, and faculty in the BASIS Chandler community and looks forward to being of service in the coming year.
Director of Academic Programs
Matt earned his Bachelor's degree in Spanish, with minors in Biblical Studies and Family Studies, from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois in 1999. He also holds a Master's degree in Education: Curriculum and Instruction and a post-graduate principal certification. Over the past 13 years he has been an Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, Principal, curriculum writer, teacher, and coach. He has also taught junior high and high school English, Spanish, PE, and a senior capstone called Self Reliance.
Matt and his wife recently celebrated their seventheenth wedding anniversary. They have three young children that are future BASIS Bobcats!
Matt looks forward to the 2016-2017 school year and the opportunities that are before him, and is thrilled to be returning to BASIS Chandler after a year away. He believes his role is to support students and teachers in all aspects. Matt loves working with teachers and students to help each one reach their highest potential.
Director of Middle School Program
Sara Pollock began at BASIS Chandler as a Lower School Dean and she is looking forward to continuing the role of an administrator as a Director of Student Affairs for 5-7th grades students. Ms. Pollock earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from UT Arlington and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from University of Phoenix while teaching at-risk high school students in Phoenix and Mesa schools. Ms. Pollock also worked as a Mad Scientist known as “Slimy Sara” throughout east valley school districts conducting hands-on science experiments for K-6th grade students and inspiring young students to become interested in science. After 8 years of teaching, Ms. Pollock earned another Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from ASU by completing an internship at North High School and acquiring a Principal Certification.
Ms. Pollock and her fiancé enjoy traveling, eating at new restaurants, attending sporting events, watching movies, and spending time with their two dogs named Zoe and Micah and their 16 year-old cat Princess.
